Joe is based in our Brisbane offices. He was admitted as a solicitor in 2012. Since that time, he has practiced exclusively in commercial litigation and has significant experience acting in complex, high value disputes.
Joe has successfully acted in countless commercial claims in District and Supreme Courts throughout Australia, and in the Federal Court. He has broad experience in a wide range of commercial disputes, with an interest in contested will disputes, consumer law, financial services claims and professional adviser claims.
Recent matter involvement
- Successfully obtained judgment against a financial adviser for $1m+ losses flowing from negligent financial advice.
- Successfully acted for the purchaser of a smash repair business in a claim for misleading and deceptive conduct by the vendor.
- Acted in a claim for injurious falsehood in relation to negative online reviews. The long-standing dispute settled soon after my involvement commenced, avoiding the costs of a lengthy and difficult litigation for my client.
- Successfully acted in a third party insurance claim against the insurer of a deregistered / deceased financial adviser in relation to $1m+ claim for misappropriation of funds. I was able to negotiate payment of a significant portion of my client’s losses in circumstances where the insurer was denying coverage.
- Successfully acted in a partnership dispute on behalf of a partner who was dismissed without being paid equity.
- Successfully obtained urgent, ex-parte freezing orders against a judgment debtor based on the debtor’s representations during without prejudice discussions.
